Give generously to the British Chiropractic Association so they can build their bridge to oblivion.

The BCA president Richard Brown recently sent a begging letter to the members of the ECU asking them to help fund their legal expenses to deal with with the chiropractic skeptics complaints After explaining about the Simon Sing case, he explained why the BCA needed the money. Excerpts from the letter are in red...

Highlights of this weeks ECU conference in London: David Byfield – how to make friends and influence Simon Singh

David Byfield and I have never liked each other since he altered evidence against a BCA colleague for a GCC hearing in 2002. Thats him in in his grim reaper outfit with BCA president Richard Brown (well fed on GCC expenses) and former president Tony Metcalfe (butter would not melt in his mouth)....

British Chiropractic Association asks the General Chiropractic Council to seek prescribing rights for its members

A ballot of BCA members has resulted in 78% of the votes cast (which was not that many), being in favour of asking the GCC to approach the Medicines Healthcare Regulatory Authority to set in motion a proposal to secure prescribing rights for chiropractors. This is a sad day for chiropractic, but at least...

These are my comments on the article professor Edzard Ernst had published in the New Scientist last summer about chiropractic.

My comments on this article are in red. What you should know about chiropractic ? 29 May 2009 by Edzard Ernst in New Scientist 29th of May Just what is chiropractic, and do the claims of chiropractors stand up to scrutiny? FOR many people, chiropractic appears almost mainstream. Some chiropractors even call themselves “doctor”....

How a few motivated "Geeks" defeated an apathetic profession

Having created this mess by not consulting the profession BCA leaders will put their head in the sand hoping the problem will go away. I suspect this is just the beginning rather than the end. Reading articles like Nick Cohen’s one can only feel embarrassed calling oneself a chiropractor Now charlatans will know to...

Simon Singhs Guardian article and my analysis

Last summer Sense about Science asked bloggers around the world to reproduce the article Simon Singh wrote in the Guardian in April 2008 as a show of solidarity with the campaign to keep Libel out of Science. In asking bloggers to publish Simons article minus the “Bogus” comment “Sense about Science” seem to be...

When will the BCA realise they will not win this argument.

“BCA Chiropractors” expert Richard Brown goes head to head with Professor Edzard Ernst in  the current issue of the BMJ. Is Richard Brown the best the chiropractic profession has to offer or simply the best the BCA council has to offer? The BCA is starting to make professor Ernst seem like an expert on...

Last June Jack of Kent summarised the BCA’s decision to sue Simon Singh.

My Comment was spot on: Jack of Kent is a member of the Legal profession and has been blogging about the BCA libel case from the start. Simon Singh and Jack of Kent will come out of this with a very high profile, whereas the chiropractic profession has been severely damaged despite the NICE...

The BCA has form in the way they try to deal with critics

This is an e-mail I sent to BCA members after I left the association in 2004. The told members they were seeking legal advice after my comments but did nothing. It would appear from the agenda for this years BCA AGM that Barry Lewis (BCA president) and Tim Hutchful’s (secretary ) amendments to the...

GCC regulatory report, 656 complaints in 2009.

Two blips in the number of complaints received since 2000. In 2005 when the BCA used the GCC to mess up the UCA and made 80 complaints against the UCA executive and in  2009 when the sceptics used the GCC to go after BCA members and made 626 complaints.
